Cillian Murphy wins Oscar for Oppenheimer role

Cork native Cillian Murphy has won the Best Actor award at this years Oscars.

The star of Peaky Blinders won the award for his portrayal of the Atomic Scientist Robert Oppenheimer, in the file 'Oppenheimer'.

Although not the first Irish person to win an Oscar, Murphy becomes the first Irish-born person to do so.

The film 'Oppenheimer' itself won a total of seven awards on the night.
